Now I can give her a cloth sprayed with this cleaner or let her clean up a spot I've already sprayed. Before I tried this I was worried about her getting anywhere near our cleaning products. Even the so called green products aredangerousfor kids. Now she feels so happy that she can help. It's really cute!

Glass Cleaning Spray

1 Cup Rubbing alcohol (or vodka)

1 Cup Water

1 Tbsp White Distilled Vinegar

Spray on wait a second, wipe off. It may take a second or two after wiping for it to evaporate. I'll be sure to mention how they are working for me once i try them out.

Also here are some websites that I found very informative:

http://www.versatilevinegar.org/usesandtips.html#1b

http://www.using-hydrogen-peroxide.com/using-hydrogen-peroxide-for-cleaning.html

http://www.ehow.com/how_2216597_clean-hydrogen-peroxide.html

http://www.care2.com/greenliving/make-your-own-non-toxic-cleaning-kit.html#

Baby Wipes

1 Empty Plastic Wipes Container
Babyfaceclothsor 100% cotton flannel(organic if possible) material Piecescut up the appropriate size to fit container. Enough to fill one container

2 cups boiled water

2 Tbsp baby wash

1 Tsp Vitamin E

Spray bottle or otherconvenientcontainer

Mix the baby wash, Vitamin E and water together. Add to spray bottle. Fold facecloths or cut up cotton material in the appropriate size to fit baby wipes container. (Baby facecloths should only need to be folded in half)Place both containers near or on changing table. When you need to change the baby just spray wipe solution onto a clean baby face cloth and wipe. Add used cloth to regular baby clothes laundry load to wash and reuse.

If you need wipes on the go just saturate as many cloths as need and place in plasticzip lockbagand add to diaper bag or purse.

These are excellent! I have been doing this for a few months now and have noticed a significant reduction in diaper rash. Plus I never have to run to the store to get more. :0)

You can add the solution right over the cloths in the container and allow it to soak in, but after a few days it smells...musty. So using a spray bottle is what I recommend.

I also found a website that cuts a roll of paper towel (good quality is a must here) in half. Take out thecenterroll and added it to a round plastic container. Then pour the solution over the top and let soak evenly. You can use these just like the wet one wipes. I was worried that they would smell after a while and I like the idea of usingreusablematerials myself so I haven't tried that option. I thought I'd add it just in case anyone was interested ;0)

HomeMade Liquid Laundry Detergent

I found this recipe on YouTube.

18 Cups Water

1 bar Sunlight Laundry Soap or other soap of your choice :) (just make sure it's the same sizeapproximately)

1 and 1/2 Cups Borax

1 and 1/2 Cups Washing Soda (you can find it in the laundry detergent aisle)

One very large pot

One very large spoon (slotted is good)

One very large bucket 5(US) or 6 gallon Canadian

4 US gallons of water (15 liters + 140ml) I used warm water

and another 2 cups of water

oh and a grater for the soap

So you grate the bar of soap finely. Bring the first 18 cups of water to a small boil. Reduce heat and add the grated soap. Stir constantly and surprisingly enough it takes no time at all to dissolve. Add the Borax and the Washing Soda. Stir until dissolved. Remove from heat. Add mixture to the 4 gallons of water in the bucket. Stir for a second. Add the last remaining 2 cups water and stir again.

And then I took some of the mixture and put it in a smaller more manageable container for the top of the washer. Let stand for 24 hours to gel. It should look like egg white consistency.

Use 1/2 cup for each load of Laundry. Pour on top of dirty clothes.

Use a little White Vinegar in the fabric softener compartment. This works great as a natural fabric softener and it is a natural clothes whitener that is easy on fabric too. The clothes don't smell like vinegar either, but the washing machine may, a little.

Viola! 5 Gallons of Laundry detergent that costs 5 cents per load. Compare that to the 20 cents it costs me for the cheap laundry detergent. It is a significant savings. Plus it's good for sensitive skin and theenvironment. Can't go wrong with that. :0)

Oh and if you need a bucket. Vintner's Cellar at 1012B Prospect St sells 6 gallon buckets (food grade) for $2.50 with a tight fitting lid.

I've been using this Laundry detergent and white vinegar (as a fabric softener) for a month now. It has made a huge difference in myeczema. The clothes always turn out as clean or cleaner than they had before. I noticed that my colored clothes are brighter then when I used the cheapest laundry detergent I could find. So that is very cool! :0)

HomeMade Dishwasher Detergent

1 Cup Borax

1 Cup Washing Soda (sodium carbonate not baking soda)

1 Plastic Container with a tight fitting lid

Mix powders together. Put in a container with a tight fitting lid and place in a convenient location. Use 2-3 tbsp per load. Add a small amount of whitevinegarto the rinse compartment. Run dishwasher as usual. A very inexpensive solution for a natural dishwasher detergent. :0) Enjoy! I've tried the detergent and it works great. I haven't used the vinegar yet as a rinse agent since i still have some blue stuff left but once that's gone i'll let you know how it works out as well.

Good Times and Great Laughs

I've put some new photos on Facebook. Here they are just after Katie did Maya's toenails. :)

January 3 - Joseph also came over later in the day. They played dress up/Hallaballo. In case your wondering they are standing on a tiger square. :)

November 1 - Austin's Birthday hockey game. He's taking a time out to cool down. One of my favorite photos of that day.

November 1 - Austin's Birthday hockey game. Another favorite is this photo.

November 1 - Austin in net. It's a game they play by running and sliding on there knees. They had a blast. :)

Maya on the jungle gym that was partially buried.

This picture was taken on March 11th. The snow was so hard we could walk on top of the snow banks. This picture was taken in the park that was buried in the snow.

February 18th. We went puddle jumping on our way to the store. We were both soaked by the time we got there but we had a blast.

February 9th. Woo Hoo! This was right before the chair broke and Mere Mere took a tumble.

 February 9th Lending helping hands.

February 9th. Maya is doing a great job keeping her balance that's for sure. And you couldn't tell that this was Austin's first time on skates this year. He did a fantastic job. :)

February 9th Maya's first try on skates. :)

February 9th at the Hiltop. Maya and Mere Mere rockin' out.

This was taken February 9th at the Hiltop.

December 29, 2007 This was the photo Jason took of Jody and Phil when we were in the Miramichi.

One of Maya's favorite costumes is this cat suit. She dresses up in it all the time. She is expecting in this photo as well quadruplets I think. A pooh bear, piglet, teddy bear, and kitty. LOL

One of my favorite dress up day photos. She shows so much character in this photo. I think that I may get this one printed and framed.

Food

Guacamole

Preparation: 15 minutes

Storage: Best made just before serving

2 Ripe Avocadoes, halved and pitted

Juice of ½ lime

2-3tbsp lemon juice ( I use only 2 tbsp and I use fresh lemon juice)

1 large tomato, deseeded and finely chopped

1 tbsp finely chopped scallion (onions are fine)

1 tbsp finely chopped red peper

10 finely chopped McLaren’s olives

1 tsp finely chopped fresh coriander (I use coriander seeds ground)

1 tsp cumin seeds toasted and ground

¼ tsp garlic powder

Dash of Tabasco/hot pepper sauce optional

Get all your ingredients chopped and measured first before starting the avocadoes.

In a bowl, mash the avocado, then add the lemon and lime juice mix, then add the remaining

ingredients, and mix well. Serve with pita bread chips, corn chips or vegetable sticks, or use as

a sandwich filling. (It is absolutely wonderful on a turkey sandwich or wrap Yummmmmy! :P)

Hamburger Soup

1 lb. extra lean hamburger, ground chicken, pork or turkey (you can use any of these meats)

6 cups water

1 cup ketchup

¼ cup soya sauce

¼ cup Worchester sauce

A little hot sauce or hot pepper (to taste)

½ tsp. black pepper

Dash of salt

½ tsp garlic powder or roasted garlic

½ tsp ginger

Diced veggies; carrots, turnip, cabbage, potatoes, (onions if you like them) Brussels sprouts (optional but

great way to get veggies you otherwise might not like) cauliflower

Can of peas, corn

Brown meat and smush up finely, put in large pot and add water and then all the other ingredients. Add

more ketchup, soya sauce or Worchester sauce to taste. You want a nice rich, slightly oriental tasting

broth that is thick with veggies…Mmmmmmmm Mmmmmmmmmm good for you!

Recipes

There is no abstract available for this page revision.

Jody and Phil's Wish List

There is no abstract available for this page revision.

Austin's Wish List

 Soccer Ball

 DS Hockey Game

Long sleeve shirts and Jammies - size 7

 Lego - vehicles

Mere-mere and Papa's Wish List

Peace on Earth

Chapter's Gift Certificate

Collage Picture Frame

Jason's Page

 Friday December 12th, 2008

A lot has changed over the past few years. Here is an interesting comparison!

Tuesday July 8th, 2008
As you can tell from the wiki main page I did manage to finish the marathon. I had given up but made a very greatful recovery two weeks before the race. My goal was to finish and given my injury, I took things as slowly as I thought was necessary. Since the F'ton marathon I've worked back up to 27 miles / week without any ITBS problems. Today though, I had a different problem. I set out to run 10 miles. My usual weekly long run these days. I normally run at the hottest time of the day so I have built a tolerance to the heat. Oh, and hey: I plan to run the Moncton "Legs for Literacy" marathon in November. I think it would be nice to make a little vacation trip out of it. Maybe the whole family could come!

Saturday April 5th, 2008 - Progress
I managed a painful 6.65 miles today! It was a good feeling to get some distance in. My theory is that I need to break up the scar tissue without breaking anything else. I actually started feeling better after about 4 miles. I'm caustiously optimistic at this point. Hopefully I'll be able to join the marathon clinic group on Saturday and run the 14 miles with them.

Friday April 4th, 2008 - Injured and hoping to get back on track
Last Friday I decided to get some massage therapy on my kinked up piriformis. The massage did the trick but left me with an iritated ilio-tibial band. Then next day's 15 mile run left me limping for two days and quite possibly ruined my hopes of running the marathon on May 11th. On Tuesday I tested out my leg and had to stop at 1.7 miles before the pain became to much of a concern. On Wednesday I saw a physiotherapist who gave me some exercises and stretches to do. I've also been icing and poping Ibuprofen like it's candy. Thursday I managed 3.7 miles. Hopefully tommorow's run will show more improvement. Unfortunately, it won't be the 20 miles as planned.

Saturday March 15th, 2008 - 57 Days Left
We (the beginners marathon clinic) ran about 17 miles / 27.5 km today. Only 3 miles short of the longest run in our marathon training program. It started to get a little painful around 10 miles and at 17 miles I could tell I was starting to run out of juice. Maybe I was getting close to "the wall". A person supposedly hits it at around 20 miles. Completing a long run like that makes me think I might have a chance at finishing the 26.3 miles. These runs are a really a nice way to see the city!

Saturday March 3rd, 2008
Well.. 13.56 miles turned in to 14.6! Sure does feel good to sit down!

Friday February 29th, 2008
I received the route for my long run tomorrow. We'll be running 13.56 miles / 21.8 km which is slightly longer than a half marathon distance. Apparently I didn't severely damage anything last Saturday. A good sign!

Saturday February 23rd, 2008
12.04 miles / 19.4 km completed this morning and my legs seem to be holding up. I'm confident now than I can at least complete the half marathon barring any serious injuries. It was a beautiful day to be running! Maybe next time I'll bring the camera!

Friday February 22nd, 2008 - A Five Year Journey
At my work today I met with Sr. management who kindly informed me that I am the successful candidate for the permanent Team Leader position! The decision is still confidential and has not been announced at work. Now it's time to celebrate!!! To kick things off I'll go for a 12 mile / 19 km run tomorrow morning. Here's hoping my legs hold out! Check out this video - "The Day After the Marathon"!

Sunday February 17th, 2008 - 42.2km or 26.2 miles
Hi! Even if you're not, here is a little meditation that you can do anywhere and anytime, even if you only have a minute or so.

The meditation is one that is done and recommended by Thich Nhat Hanh, and appears to be too simple to be effective, but it is used by experienced meditators on a daily basis.

Give it a try! I hope it brings you some peace - Dad/Papa/Robin.

Whether you are sitting, standing, or lying down, just try to be as comfortable as possible. Your breathing should be long and gentle but silent. Repeat the following slowly as many times as you have time for:

1 - While inhaling, say to yourself "Breathing in, I calm my body"
2 - While exhaling, say to yourself "Breathing out, I smile"
3 - While inhaling, say to yourself "Dwelling in the present moment"
4 - While exhaling, say to yourself "I know this is a wonderful moment"

After some practice, you can shorten the phrases to the following:

1 - Inhaling: "Calming"
2 - Exhaling: "Smiling"
3 - Inhaling: "Present moment"
4 - Exhaling: "Wonderful moment"
